It is an American poetry award given to American citizen poets for their poetry written in the English language. This award was first honored in 1993 and presented by Claremont Graduate University. Also, winners of this award should submit their other work in later years, and it has to be published the previous year between July and June.

Montreal International Poetry Prize

This award is well-known by The Montreal Prize and it launched in 2011 during national poetry month. Winner gets CAD 20000, the world’s largest monetary prize for a single poem. The award also builds international readership and encourages the talent of poetry. You can submit your work from anywhere not exceeding 40 lines in English.

Griffin Poetry Prize

Griffin Poetry Prize founded in 2000 and presented by Griffin Trust for Excellence in Poetry and Scott Griffin. Before 2022 the award  given to only one Canadian and one international poet whose poem should be in the English language. Now the combined prize is CAD$13000 for a single award and a lifetime recognition award of CAD 25000. This award helps to recognized in the poetry world.

T.S. Eliot Prize

This prize was inaugurated in 1993 to celebrate the poetry book society’s 40th birthday and honor T.S. Eliot. The winner’s prize money is £20,000 also, and nine runners-up receive £1500 each. It is the most coveted award in the poetry field and confers the best collection of new verse English first published in the UK. Holifield retired in June 2022 after 20 years in the post, being replace by Mike Sims.

Donald Justice Poetry Prize

It is the most prestigious national Poetry award given annually, since 2006 and presented by the WCU poetry center. This award honors an American poet for an unpublished book-length manuscript of formal poetry. The award event happens every year of spring at the West Chester university poetry event. The winners receive $1500 and will have the manuscript published by autumn house press.

Forward Prize For Poetry

It is the major British award for poetry established in 1992 by William Seighart to celebrate excellence in poetry. The winner of the best collection gets £10000, the first collection £5000, and the best single poem receives £1000. These awards encourage new poems, and the deadline for this award is March 17th, 2023. So make sure to apply and get recognize among others.

Pulitzer Prize For Poetry

The king’s gold medal for poetry also known as the queen‘s gold medal for poetry. This award established by King George V in 1933 confers meritorious achievements in poetry. At first, it opened to only British subjects living in the U.K, but in 1985 awarded for a book of verse published in any of the commonwealth realms.
